Sydney's in a purple patch over Easter this year. After rainy Easters for the past few years, we're experiencing the last gasp of summer. Good Friday was very good indeed, and Easter Sunday is predicted to be a very summery 26 degrees! We hope you are unwinding and relaxing and spending time with your loved ones as we are. Wishing you lots of love, chocolate and relaxing times...
Summer was long and hot and continues late into March, which we are loving. But it's been a wet month, there's no denying. Here are some of our recollections of summer days, summer fare and back when we were plain old beach bumming. Penny and Casper also complained that these weren't their best angles, but hey, they are sun-worshippers and daydreamers of the highest order. And we are right there with them, dreaming of our best beach days!
The year is flying by and our guests are loving life in the Bungalow (as are we)! We've had wonderful visitors who are enjoying a reprieve from their northern winters, and summer seems to be on an extended visit. The weather is still so warm!
Time flies when you're beachy keen. This morning we farewelled our Canadian guests (enjoy the Great Ocean Road, guys!) and we are preparing for the arrival of our German guests. We hope they like the beach because Manly is really sparkling at the moment! 2016 was a pretty big year for us at the Bungalow and we'd like to thank all our guests from 2016 and we're excited about making new friends in 2017. Happy New Year!
We're nearing the end of the year and Sydney has been struck by days on end of high temperatures, warm seas and high humidity. It's like being in the tropics, sans trade winds. Our current Bungalow guests are from Canada and are very much embracing the warm weather; positively thriving in it. Christmas is done and dusted and we are moving towards New Year's post-haste. This morning a heat haze shrouded Manly, and will soon burn off as we heat up to another high temperature today.
It's warm, it's fine...it must be Christmas! Here in Manly, the days are getting long and the number of shopping days is getting shorter. The Bungalow is looking extra inviting! And Manly was full of Santas today for the annual Manly Santa Pub Crawl.
It's hard to fathom that Christmas is nearly here. Where on earth does the time go? We're busy decorating our home and the Bungalow and enjoying the smell of the fresh pine needles. And each year, we scratch our heads wondering how on earth we have accrued so many decorations. The days are hot and bright, and our current visitors at the Bungalow from Northern Hemisphere climes can't quite believe they're experiencing a hot, sunny, beachy Christmas!
Manly lovers in the know know Little Manly. Tucked away on Eastern Hill, Little Manly is a slice of heaven and a haven for lap swimmers, scuba divers, tinny owners and families. A harbour beach without waves, it's the perfect place to laze about when Nippers descend on the Manly beaches of a Sunday morning.
The Bungalow is looking mighty tropical at the moment and Manly has had a bit of rain this week. The garden is coming alive again and into bloom. We're preparing for guests this weekend and we think the Bungalow is looking like a real retreat from the world! Have a wonderful weekend wherever you are.
Life continues apace here in Manly. The perfect solution to the end of the week involves water and wine. The former in large doses and the latter in more sensible doses. Summer feels just around the corner.
